Congratulations to Rosa Bruno-Jofré who is, with her co-editors Michael Attridge and Jon Igelmo Zaldivar, the winner of the Canadian Association for the Foundations of Education (CAFE) Edited Book Prize for Rethinking Freire and Illich (UTP 2023).

The book is the product of a symposium funded by a Connection Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and gathered the members of the Theory and History of Education Research Group (https://theirgroup.org/ ) led by Bruno-Jofré (Principal applicant) , the Civic Culture and Educational Policies Research Team from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid ( www.ucm.es/ccpe) , members of the Institute for Research on the Second Vatican Council in Canada at USMC (http://dominicantoronto.org/institue-research-vatican-ii-canada/) and members of the Congregation of Our Lady of the Missions/RNDM women religious (http//www.rndmcanada.org/). Collaborators from Australia, Canada, Chile, Spain and the USA have generated and original and cross disciplinary analysis of Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed and Illich’s Deschooling Society.
