Annual Conference

The 2024 annual meeting will be held in-person at McGill University, Wednesday, June 19 and Thursday, June 20, 2024. We hope many of our members will be able to join us. Further details will be added to this page as they are known.

Keynote

Dr. Hillary Kael, Associate Professor cross-appointed to the Department of Anthropology and the School of Religious Studies at McGill University will deliver the keynote address to the 2024 annual meeting of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association. Her address, “Catholic Banking and Building in Quebec: An Entangled History and its Afterlives” will address banking in Quebec as a Catholic project and make the link to current debates about memory and the role of Catholic church buildings in Quebec.

Professor Kaell is an anthropologist and historian of North American Christianity. She holds a William Dawson Research Chair at McGill University and is a fellow at Concordia’s Center for Sensory Studies. She is the co-editor of two book series: Contemporary Anthropology of Religion at Palgrave Macmillan and New Directions in Anthropology of Christianity at Bloomsbury.
