Dr. Peter Meehan, Presidential Inaugeration for St. Mark’s College, Corpus Christi College Vancouver BC welcomes Sister Marie Zarowny, Provincial Leader, Sisters of St. Ann
It is with great pride that we announce the Installation of Dr. Peter M. Meehan as the Twelfth Principal and Vice-Chancellor for Saint Mark’s College and Fourth President of Corpus Christi College. Officially installed on the 16th of October, 2014 at Saint Mark’s College Chapel in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Peter is a past president of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association, and for five years served as Editor of Historical Studies, our refereed journal (2002-2007). He was commissioned by the Archdiocese of Toronto to write the biography of Philip Pocock, seventh Archbishop of Toronto. At the May 2011 meetings of the Congress of the Social Sciences and Humanities, he was awarded the Paul A. Bator Memorial Award for his article “‘Purified Socialism’ and the Church in Saskatchewan: Tommy Douglas, Philip Pocock and Hospitalization, 1944-1948.”
CCHA members, Dr. Jacqueline Gresko, Dr. Patricia Roy were in the audience to witness this grand event! As expected, Peter humbly accepted his positions and addressed the assembled clergy, faculty, students and friends with his characteristic good humour saying, “Not much has changed in the past 30 years. I’m still at school, I had grey hair even then.”
Peter, we know that your leadership and kind nature, your scholarly advice and good humour will serve you and Vancouver students and staff of the Catholic Colleges very well in the coming years. Congratulations!!
