Coast to Coast: Spring 2014

Robert Dennis, CCHA Vice-President, has accepted a limited term position as Institutional Historian of St Dunstan’s University in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. In this role, he will write a second volume of SDU’s history from 1956 until the university’s closing in 1969. This book length manuscript is scheduled for publication in 2016, and it aims to contribute to our understanding of Catholic higher education in the Atlantic region.

During academic year, Peter Baltutis was Assistant Professor teaching Theology/Religious Studies and was Service Learning Co-ordinator at Corpus Christi College in Vancouver. As of July 2014, Peter Baltutis will begin a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of European Intellectual History and Catholic Studies at St Mary’s University College in Calgary.

Ten Sisters of St Ann and two archivists participated in the Truth and Reconciliation National Event held in Vancouver in September 2013. They hoped to contribute to the healing and reconciliation of former students of the Indian residential schools by expressions of regret for the pain suffered by many. Photographs from the schools were shared, copies were available, and the former students appreciated being heard and understood.
