Congress 2013 Victoria – British Columbia

Canadian Catholic Historical Association 80th Annual Meeting

University of Victoria, Victoria, British Columbia

3-4 June 2013

The 80th annual meeting of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association will be held at the University of Victoria, 3-4 June 2013 in conjunction with the Annual Congress of the Canadian Federation of the Humanities and Social Sciences (1–8 June 2013).

The main Congress theme is “Intersections and Edges.” The CCHA invites proposals for scholarly papers, especially those dealing with the Congress theme as it relates to Canadian Catholic history, but papers dealing with any aspect of the history of the Catholic Church or Catholicism in Canada are also welcome. Papers presented at the conference will be eligible for consideration for publication in the CCHA’s annual peer-reviewed journal, Historical Studies. Proposals for either individual papers or entire sessions or round tables of two or three related papers are welcome for submission.  Please see our Call for Papers posted on this website.

All members of the CCHA are invited to join with the CCHA Executive to experience the presentation of our historical papers, the friendship during our shared banquet celebrated after our Annual Mass and reception and the beauty of this glorious city.  Rooms at the University are available for use during Congress 2013 and accessible for booking  through the Congress 2013 website.

Some accommodations are also being held for CCHA members at a selected hotel in the city.  Please contact Valerie Burke at the CCHA Office (valerieburke@cchahistory.ca or 905-893-9795) for information relating to accommodations.

It is also our CCHA tradition to informally meet prior to our meetings just to gather and to meet at a convenient local pub.  Please keep in touch with this page to be updated on that event.

This year the CCHA Congress 2013 Visitors will be touring St. Anne’s Academy

This will also be the location of our Annual Mass Celebration We hope every year that all CCHA Members who attend Congress 2013 will also attend the Mass when we celebrate the life of all deceased members.  Please watch this post for details of that evening event scheduled for Monday June 3, 2013

A complete program of our Association events will soon be listed on our website as soon as they become available.

For anyone in the Victoria area who might be considering joining the CCHA this would be an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded historians interested in promoting our Canadian Catholic History.

Please come out and meet who we are!,
