Annual Conference

2026 Meeting

The 92nd Annual Conference of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association (CCHA) will be held on Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4, 2026 at the University of Prince Edward Island, in Charlottetown. This is the first time our conference will be held in Atlantic Canada since 2011 and the first time at UPEI since 1992. Our 2026 meeting is independent of the annual Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences and shares dates with the Canadian Historical Association’s Annual Meeting (June 1-3) and the Atlantic Canada Studies Conference (June 3-5), which will also take place in Charlottetown

Call for Papers

The CCHA invites proposals for scholarly papers dealing with any aspect of the history of the Catholic Church or Catholicism in Canada or the world. We extend a special invitation to young scholars, graduate students or those with no previous relationship with the CCHA.

Papers presented at the conference will be eligible for consideration for publication in the CCHA’s annual peer-reviewed journal, The Canadian Journal of Catholic History.

Proposals for either individual papers, entire sessions, or round tables of two or three related papers, are welcome. For individual papers, please submit a maximum 250-word proposal and one-page curriculum vitae. For panels or roundtable sessions, please send a maximum one-page proposal for the entire session and curriculum vitae for each participant. Curriculum vitae should include email and postal addresses.

Prospective presenters are encouraged to become members of the CCHA, and student memberships are available. Additional information about past conferences, membership, publications, etc., is available at the Canadian Catholic Historical Association’s website: https://cchahistory.ca/about/

Please submit proposals on our website or via email by Friday, February 6, 2026 to:

Dr. Daniel MacLeod (CCHA President and Program Chair) at daniel.macleod AT umanitoba.ca Even if you are unable to present a paper this year, we hope you will plan to attend the CCHA Annual Conference!
