Editor’s Foreword
The
English-speaking section of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association is a
community, or more accurately, a number of communities across Canada. The
year, 1993, marks the sixtieth anniversary of the founding of the Canadian
Catholic Historical Association which came into being as an attempt to
understand better the development of those communities that make up Roman
Catholicism in English-speaking Canada. What follows are a number of articles
that reflect the growing recognition of the diversity of these communities as
well as the common characteristics shared by all of them. The objective of my
term as editor-in-chief is to continue the tradition set down by our founder
James Kenny to harvest the field of Catholic history in Canada.
